- I do not align myself with any developing art movements.
- I create art for my pleasure and the process provides fulfillment.
- The human form and face are the most gratifying subjects for my art.
- The face conveys who we are and the mystery about ourselves that we hide.
- I do not seek a realistic image, but rather an expression of who I feel is the subject.
- I paint powerful people that I admire and want to make a statement about their persona.
- I also paint the not-so-famous persons I know and find them interesting visual subjects with humble energy.
- I prefer oil sticks as my medium as it has immediate results and allows me to sketch and paint at the same time.
- Oil Sticks are the perfect medium for painting nudes because the body is alive with gestures that suggest innate colors.
- Color selection is a synergistic process governed by a feeling, rather than an attempt to record the surface colors.
- I try to make my art timeless as I avoid clothing, hair styles, facial hair, eyeglasses, anything that dates the painting.
- When viewed in the future, there will be minimal visual clues as to when my art was created.
